Welcome to Twenty Five Poker Books
It is my great pleasure to bring this concept - which I have been working on
for a while - to you today and an even greater pleasure to invite you to
actually be a part of bringing it to fruition.
As you may know from my appearances on numerous poker shows over the years,
I am passionate about teaching people how to play the game of poker. I am
also passionate about the fact that I am only one of many teachers, many of
whom we will never meet or even get to see on television. Fortunately, those
teachers have been good enough to capture all their fantastic knowledge
about the game into the books that they have written affording us all the
opportunity of reading them.
Unfortunately, though, as poker has exploded in popularity so has the sheer
number of books on the market and - as with any subject - some of those
books are bound to be better and more valuable to your bankroll than others.
I would say the single most common question we were asked on the poker shows
that I presented was "which books shall I read".
Working on the basis that many of you want to learn more about poker from
books but don't know which ones to read or - just as often - know what to
read but don't have the time... I decided to do the work for you and launch
25pokerbooks.com ...
Your complete library of poker
information in one book!
A couple of words on the concept before we go further together:
1) Of course I give full credit to the writers of the books without whom I
would be selling you blank pages. It is their concepts that I am summarising
with only minimal commentary and critique from myself.
2) To this end I would STRONGLY recommend that you use my book to decide
which of the source books you want to buy and study further. You will get
enough information from this book to be a really good player but in order to
be a great player there is no substitute for the real thing and you can buy
them here or on the author's homepages.
3) I know that some people are negative about the process of reading books
about poker saying that experience is all that counts. This makes no sense
to me at all. Are they honestly saying that they would turn down the
opportunity to sit next to David Sklansky, Doyle Brunson and Dan Harrington
in real life? Of course not. Sadly, life affords us very few opportunities
of that nature so we take the next best thing which is to read their book.
As you will see from this site, the book is a work in progress at the moment
which is a downer if you're chomping at the bit to read it as I hope you are
but see it instead as an exciting opportunity because by answering the
questions below you actually help us to shape the project by voting for the
books you would like summarised and reviewed.
Fill in the questionnaire to receive a free
chapter from the book itself - a review of "The Theory of Poker" by David Sklansky.
Over the coming weeks you will also receive extracts of my forthcoming book "The
Little Book of Expectation" for your delight and
edification.
Thanks for visiting and I look forward to seeing you back here again soon as
our site grows in scope and scale.
Best regards,
Caspar
